Articling Students

The Bianchi Presta Difference

We are a mid-size, full service law firm located in the heart of the City of Vaughan. Our firm's founding partners built this business from the ground up on the basic principle of putting the client first. Today, our team enjoys a fast-paced, dynamic work environment coupled with a collegial office culture - where our team works together by supporting one another to provide our clients a level of service that is second to none. Our continued success is, without a doubt, linked to our ability to attract and retain high-caliber individual lawyers, associates, students, and support staff, who embody our core-values as we continue to enhance and grow our team in various roles and capacities.

To find out more about the different types of opportunities we are offering, please select the position that is relevant to you.

OVERVIEW

At Bianchi Presta LLP we are committed to creating an open and collegial learning environment for our students by allowing them to become directly involved in all aspects of our firm ranging from client interaction, access to robust legal research tools whether online or otherwise, court appearances and exposure to our firm’s main practice areas. Our firm is based on collegiality - where we all work together and support one another.

WHY ARTICLE AT BIANCHI PRESTA?

As an articling student, you will work directly with our legal team – both associate lawyers and senior partners.  You will be provided with frank and constructive feedback on an ongoing basis. Our goal is to ensure that you are prepared for your call to the bar.

Unique to Bianchi Presta, we recognize that our students will notably benefit from developing and refining their legal skills and competencies, but also from the exposure to the business and administrative side of the legal practice. This is a fundamental, and often overlooked, aspect of practicing law successfully.

As you embark on the journey to become a lawyer, you should appreciate that you are committed to a life in the professional services industry. Service is a hands-on vocation and accessibility to our clients is of the utmost importance to us. We value and respect the quality of one's output over simply logging hours at the office. Personal sacrifices are an inevitable reality of practicing law; however, we still appreciate and understand the benefits of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The cycle of client activity has its peaks and valleys, which requires time management and prioritization skills.

Most importantly, our goal is to prepare our articling students for their first year associate position. We believe that to be a successful lawyer, our students must get hands on work experience rather than observe the work being done.

Our firm is ideal for students who are interested in the areas of Litigation, Business Law, Construction Law, Real Estate and Development Law, Family and Matrimonial Law, and Wills and Estates law. If you are interested in practicing in any one of these areas, please read on to find out more about our Articling Student Program.

ARTICLING STUDENT APPLICATION DEADLINE

We are always searching for talented individuals and take a flexible approach when it comes to accepting applications and hiring our students. We typically begin accepting applications for next year’s articles on May 1st up until July 20th and we usually employ 1-2 articling students at a time. A strong work ethic, respect, humility and a thirst for knowledge are the secrets to success at our firm.

THE ARTICLING STUDENT EXPERIENCE

What can you expect if you article with us?

Our team of lawyers do not follow strict rotation systems like most firms adhere to. Instead, under your principal’s supervision, students will work with both our senior and associate lawyers on all aspects of files, including research, attendance at client meetings and court appearances. Furthermore, you will be assigned tasks in all areas of our practice as required. Not only does this rotation-free system keep your job interesting, it also prepares you for your post-articling career. Should you express interest in a particular area of law early on, we will attempt to assign work in the requested area.

INTERESTED IN APPLYING AS AN ARTICLING STUDENT?

If our articling program sounds like the right fit for you, we encourage you apply! We are searching for high-calibre students that have demonstrated interest in what we do, strong academic credentials and a solid work ethic. As we understand that there is more to a person than what’s just on their resume and academic transcripts, please tell us a little bit about yourself and why you want to join us.
